Final portfolio

English had always been my favorite class. This year we learned English in a different way instead of writing paragraphs on paper we did it on our phones and we used blogger to post all our blog posts.

1) Self Regulation: In English class I put a lot of effort in my blog posts. I try to make my blog posts better with my peers  feed back on my pervious posts. I attended English class everyday and on time. I agree that I'm usually not focused in class cause I get distracted easily and get carried away in conversation. And the teacher did remind us to stay on task and it is important to pay attention. I only have been absent for a week and I did catch up on missed work and assignments. I do use my device effectively but sometimes I do get bored and go on Facebook but I do get my work done on time. I always come to class prepared and ready to learn and have my learning tools ready. In this category I give my self a 28%

2) Quality of communication skills: The PLO's I think I did good in English 10 was

Thinking (Oral Language)

  1. A8  speak and listen to make personal responses to texts, by
    – making connections with prior knowledge and experiences – relating reactions and emotions to understanding of the text – generating thoughtful questions
    – making inferences
    – explaining opinions using reasons and evidence

  1. B2  read, both collaboratively and independently, to comprehend a variety of information and persuasive texts with increasing complexity of ideas and form, such as
    – articles and reports
    – biographies and autobiographies

    – textbooks, magazines, and newspapers – print and electronic reference material – advertising and promotional material – opinion-based material

    – student-generated material

Thinking (Writing and Representing)

  1. C8  write and represent to explain and support personal responses to texts, by – making comparisons to other ideas and concepts
    – relating reactions and emotions to understanding of the text
    – developing opinions using reasons and evidence

    – suggesting contextual influence

In the catogory I give my self a 28%

    3) contribution to the learning environment: I do comment on my peers blog posts and get involved in a conversations and do share my ideas with the class on Edmodo. I get involved in disscussions with my group at my table to discuss what we're learning about but sometime I do get carried away with others conversations but I do get back on task after a while.

Here is a comment I made on Kira's blog.

  2. And here is are some screen shots of me getting involved in group conversations

And in the catorgory I give my self a 29%

Over all I think English 10 has been a excellent course. I'm glad I'm part of it. I think in the course deserve a 85% including the extra 1% because I do agree that I have been carried away in conversations but I do complete my work on time and submit it to edmodo. I also tried really hard in my learning.

Walking a mile

Walking a mile in someone's shoes can change how you feel about them and perhaps change how you feel about yourself. Everyone Atleast once in their life have judged a person on their appearance or their personality traits.

Romeo and Juliet is considered one of the greatest love stories of all time. In the play there are many examples of people "walking a mile in someone's shoes". People say that In the play lady Capulet isnt considered as a "good mother" and doesn't take care about her daughter. Therefore were there's nurse who takes care of Juilet like there own daughter. In the play lady Capulet says that she had Juliet younger than Juliet is now. Which means that lady Capulet had Juliet when she was around 12 years old it's really hard to take care of a baby in such a young age. It also means that lady Capulet got married in a young age. Also Lady Capulet thinks it's fine for her nurse to take care of her.

Walking a mile in someone's shoes is also shown In the novel "The curious incident of the dog in the night time". It's a about a dog who was murdered in the night time. In the novel Christopher is trying to find out who killed the dog Wellington. Since Christopher had autism it doesn't take that long for him to find out who killed Wellington. When Christopher finds out that his dad, Mr. Boone killed  Wellington. Christopher gets scared and runs away from home and goes to his mothers house in London. Therefore were Mrs. Boone walked a mile in Mr. Boones when she left him two years ago. Some examples are when Christopher was young Mrs. Boone found it hard taking Christopher out in public because if Christopher was around many people and if there was many people he would lay ground and he would start screaming. After when Mrs. Boone left Christopher Mr. Boone found out how hard it was to take care of Christopher. Since Christopher had autism he would do weird things and react different like hated crowed places, going for 3am walks and never wanted his food touching and based his day of cars. Now we understand how hard it must be for Mr. Boone taking care of Christopher.

My personal experience of walking in a mile in someone's shoe was when I didn't know this girl really well and my friends told me that she's really mean and I started being mean to her as well. Then one day I started talking to her and I got to know that see was that mean. So I learned that never judge a person by what other people say about them.

Walking a mile is someone's shoes can change your perspective on them. You should never judge somebody by their appearance. We should think twice before we say something to someone.

Argumentitive essay

The novel "The curious incident of the dog in the night time" is an mysterious novel. In the novel someone murdered a dog named Wellington, Mrs. Shears poodle. There are many suspects that could have been blamed for Wellingtons murdered. I think Mr. Boone is the suspect for Wellingtons murdered because when Christopher was trying to find out who killed Wellington in the neighbourhood. Mr. Boone tells Christopher "just try to keep your nose out of peoples bussiness"and he also states "it's a bloody dog" Christopher. Which means Mr. Boone doesn't want Christopher to bud in peoples bussiness because Christopher is an autistic child which means he's really smart so he doesn't want him to figure out who murdered Wellington. Another suspect I think Mr. Boone murdered Wellington because Mr. Boone doesn't care if Christopher goes for 3am morning walks and does werid thing around the town then why would Mr. Boone care if Christopher goes around and find out who killed Wellington. These are something reason why I think that Mr. Boons is the suspect for killing Wellington

Stress song

I choose the song la la land by Demi Lovato. I chose this song because it cool me down when I'm feeling down. When she says:

I am confident, but I still have my moments Baby, that's just me

This line calms me down because  Demi is saying is that you are confident but still at some moments you can be insecure but that's just who you are.

Another line that relates to me is

I won't change anything in my life / (I won't change anything in my life) / I'm staying myself tonight / (I'm staying myself tonight)

This line connects to me that no matter what other people say or tell you, I will always be myself and no one can change me.

Romeo and Juliet formal write up

In the play Romeo and Juliet Mercutio is often considered as Shakespeare's best and important character. Mercutio is the nephew of the prince and is friends with both families in rivalry the Capulets and the Montagues.

one reason Mercutio is important because of his overbearing personality. He builds up his character by  his inventive imagery and his sexuality jokes one example is the a queen mab speech.
This is that very Mab
That plates the manes of horses in the night,
And bakes the elflocks in fouls sluttish hair,
Which once intangled, much misfortune
Bodies
This is the had, when maids lie on their backs,
That presses them and learns them first to bear,
Making them women of good carriage

Another reason why Mercutio is important is because Mercutio isnt a "love dovey" person unlikely like Romeo how he's so obsessed with Juliet. He also argues how love is a dream and dreams are nothing.

Last reason is Mercutio is important because he's caring in the play Mercutio wants peace between the two families, the Capulets and Montagues. He also cares for Romeo becaue he doesn't want Romeo to marry Juliet because he knows it will cause trouble between the two families

In conclusion i think Mercutio is considered as an important role in the play Romeo and Juliet. Some reasons were the queen Mab speech and how he wanted peace between the two families, and as he cares for Romeos love.

Romeo and Juliet formal write up

I chose d) Mercutio is often considered one of Shakespeare's best characters and yet he is killed quite early in this play. Discuss how the relationships Mercutio is in influence his behaviour/choices, and discuss why you think so many people (including me) find him interesting and pleasure to watch/read. What do you think Shakespeare would say about his character Mercutio? Would you like him? Would he think he was brave, honourable ,immature ignorant or wise?

I chose this topic because I can talk a lot about mercutio and what kind of person Mercutio is and why he is considered important in the play. For this essay topic I can use quotes and lines from the play.
